H. incei revision

My 1st communal is now a success, so I want to make it bigger and better now so it can go on for years and years to come. I am upgrading from a 20gal tall to a 40gal reptile tank with sliding screen lid. heres the progress so far and I will update as I make more changes and adjustments.

I dont have water dishes generally. I just mist heavily weekly. I am rehoming my current communal over to the new tank. When I'm done I should have a better count of the adults and slings that get swapped over. It should be my original 12 adults and however many slings from the sac(s) they've produced.

Not too much maintenance is required in my set up as the isopods and dermestid beatles do most of the work. I just clean the glass from time to time.

Snowed in still so I made some more progress on the H. incei communal tank. Heres what I got done today. I still need to finish the door and latching system and let everything set up before I can add substrate and cage decor/plants etc.

No secret here, a dremel, some foam, cement based coating and acrylic paints (non toxic) One tip that people miss most is to dye the cement coating the base color you are looking for with the acrylic paint before applying it. You use a lot less paint that way. Then to get detail coloring I use dilluted paints in spray and squirt bottles to get in all of the cracks. Plus it gives it a more natural look. Then Once I'm all said and done I'll take a big paint brush with a lighter color and high light all the high spots and ridges. I will do a video soon of my carving and painting techniques for rocks. It's super simple.

Thanks. I will probably finish it later today after work. I need to pick up some fresh coco fiber and a few branches to finish it off.

Still not finished! I ran out of substrate!

the completed lid w/ 3" vents

Start of cage decoration
